While I don't care for Doris' look around this time, it is still great to see a pic I have not seen before, thanks Bryan.

Thank you all, and especial Bryan.
Great banner of " Young man with a Horn" , Doris looks amazing, agree with you Johnny, Doris looks timeless.
It also shows how she did enjoy doing that movie, and Kirk, well not my favorite actor, but how know what might been as she did play with Gregory Peck, in that picture, but I can' t see him playing the trumpet.

Cheers Jas! Yes, agree about Kirk Douglas, Johnny. Good actor but very (too?) intense in that film. Gregory Peck is a good idea but, as you say, Puck, hard to see him as a musician. Tony Curtis? Burt Lancaster?

Here's Doris in 'Midnight Lace'.

Thank you Bryan for this Midnight Lace Banner. I LOVE this film. Doris gave a great performance in this suspence thriller. I know i have said this numerous times but it is worthy of a repeat Doris is a very versatile entertainer. She is so talented. Everything she does, she does extremely well. Thanks again Bryan, i love Doris and I love this wonderful forum. Hope everyone is having a great week.

Thanks Bryan for the Midnight Lace banner. I love her elegant look in this film. Every frame in this film is striking. Midnight Lace inspired me to go to London. It was an incredibly happy six months I spent there.

Great banner, Bryan. Black & white somehow makes the scene look even more ominous. There's been criticism of Midnight Lace, but I agree with Tybear. I really like this film.

Re: the male lead in "Young Man with a Horn," I wish Jack Lemmon's transition from television to films had occurred by the time this movie was made. In my view, he would have been much more suited than Kirk Douglas in the role. Like Doris, Lemmon was equally adept in comedy and drama.

Thanks Tybear, you're right that Doris was a very versatile actress, she certainly showed it in 'Midnight Lace'.

Didn't know you'd been to London, Johnny, glad you enjoyed it! I love London but I'm always happy to get away from it too! Where do you live in the US?

I thought about Jack Lemmon, Judy, but figured he would have been too young?

Here's another pic from 'Midnight Lace'.

What fascinating Italian Midnight Lace posters!

It is a complete sexy reimagining of Doris' image.
Doris' character in Midnight Lace has an understated classic sexiness. I believe this is true of all her films.

I really like the Midnight Lace poster with Big Ben in the background. It would have worked in American advertizing.

Bryan, I like the photo of Doris with more light on her face. The original is a little dark.

The Italian posters are fabulous- however, MN must have been released in Italy a few years later as the hair style used in the first poster if from Thrill of it All.

Didn't notice that, Jas, well spotted. But I noticed the artist didn't get her jawline right in that image.

Here's another from 'Midnight Lace':

Hi all,

Scriptwise not the best Doris Day film, but otherwise a great film. Love Doris fashions by Irene a lot, they are timeless in my opinion. Through the years I've collected a lot of internet photo's of Midnight Lace and they still are a treat for the eyes. Love this bannr, liked the Italian posters a lot too, but they almost promote another film... not Midnight Lace... But a film where Doris is treatened by fear in London town...

Love this banner. Tres chic!

In the second poster from Italy, the man embracing Doris looks more like Louis Jourdan. Maybe the artist was confused!

Great observations Jas & Musiclover on the beautiful Italian Midnight Lace posters!

Doris looks so confident & sophisticated in this new banner. I think the composition of the photo with the metallic background pieces gives a contemporary feeling.

Thanks Bryan for the classic banner.

Fabulous and striking banner- that dress which we don't really get to see in Midnight Lace is one of the most classic and perfect outfits ever designed for Doris - she wore it with the cape in the lift/ elevator scene and then the pub.

I agree with James - a very elegant banner and I like the effect the vertical blinds have - they make it even more stylish and of the sixties. Great outfit too and, Bryan, I particularly like the choice of font - with the Doris Day letters bolder than the rest. Fonts rule!

Thanks Bryan for this Midnight Lace banner. Looking at this banner is jarring in contrast with the thousands of sunny smiling pictures of Doris. It reminds us about Doris' great dramatic acting skills. Doris' scene on the staircase has stayed with me because it was so convincing.

The phone played a significant role in both Pillow Talk and Midnight Lace. If Midnight Lace was made today, would it be texts, emails or other electronic messaging used? Who can forget the creepy voice in the fog while Doris walks through the park?

The Italian banner is fascinating. It shows Doris smiling as well as frightened. The faces of John Gavin and Rex Harrison look mysterious. Love it!

And to lighten the mood, here's a photo sent to me by Shohre Vakill (forum member from days gone by) who came across what looks like a rose named after Doris in London's Regent Park a couple of days ago: 8)
