Hello forum friends,

Thank you for these beautiful Teacher's Pet banners. I love this movie. I thought Doris and Clarke Gable were awesome together. They definitely don't make movies like this anymore.
Has anyone heard how Doris is doing? Hard to believe she's fast approaching 93 years young.
Hope everyone is having a good week and hope
You enjoy your weekend with family and friends.

Tybear😍

Thank you so much Bryan and Peter. I think about Doris everyday and hope she is doing well. So many of the wonderful actors and actresses from my childhood are disappearing and it saddens me. The article On the site that Peter posted makes it sound as if Doris is doing extremely well. I even have to wear readers. It's so awesome that she is still active in her foundation doing so much for animals everywhere. I really appreciate the information Peter. I love this forum and I love Doris❤️

Another beautiful banner.

The article on the website - is a copy of the National Enquirer article- which is surprising in that (a) it is so positive [for them] and (b) that it is being sanctioned by Doris / her folks - as I thought they did not approve of such publications - however, it is nice to read nice stuff about a lovely lady.

Howard, the link is on Doris' own website - dorisday.com - the article itself was in the UK version of National Enquirer.

Hope this helps.

Nice review from IMDB:

A wonderful almost forgotten musical By Isaac5855, USA

The 1957 film version of the Broadway musical THE PAJAMA GAME is one of the best translations of a stage musical to the screen ever. The screen version is extremely loyal to its origins, utilizing almost all of the original Broadway cast (except for Janis Paige, who lost the role of Babe to 50's box-office powerhouse Doris Day) and keeping most of the original score intact (only one song, "Hers Is" was not used in the film and a song written especially for Doris, "The Man Who Invented Love", ended up being cut).

This delightfully original musical centers around the Sleep-Tite Pajama Factory where the head of the grievance committee (Doris) is trying to negotiate a 7 and a 1/2 cent raise for the factory workers by butting heads with the new factory supervisor (John Raitt, reprising his Broadway role)but eventually falling for him. Musicals were past their prime by the time this one made it to the screen, but it is still beautifully mounted and has some of the greatest songs in musical comedy ("Hey, There", "I'm not at all in love", "There Once was a Man").

Doris Day and John Raitt make an engaging screen couple (Doris Day has rarely been so adult or sexy on screen) and the imaginative choreography by the legendary Bob Fosse is a big plus. Carol Haney's "Steam Heat" is classic Fosse and one of the highlights of this wonderful stage musical that inexplicably died at the box office upon release. A great musical that is a must for Day and Fosse fans.

Thank you for the great Pajama Game banners. I had never seen this film until I ordered it a few years ago. Of course I love this film and the music because it stars the beautiful and talented Doris. One again Doris displays all of her amazing talent for music and comedy in this film with John Raitt. I love you ❤️ Doris!

Thanks Tybear, it is a great film, isn't it? It's always been one of my favourites since I first saw it at a re-screening in a London (art house) cinema in the late 1980s. Pity it's not shown on TV. :(

I think the box office comment is wrong, Jas. Paul Brogan lists the Box Office Gross as $5 million in US alone (a lot of money in1957) and there are references to Variety having it as one of the "Top Grosses of 1957".
And that's not counting video and DVD sales.

Thanks Bryan - I like to hear that- as it is such a fabulous [in my opinion] ensemble musical where DD gives one of her best performances - they all do.

In Cobbett Steinberg's book, Film Facts,(1978), The Pajama Game is listed in Time Magazine's Annual "Ten Best" lists of 1957.

The Pajama Game is truly an under-appreciated film. Thank you so much Bryan for bringing this great Doris Day musical film into the spotlight so it may discovered by a new audience. It is not only the members of this forum that are reminded of these wonderful films, our family members and friends hear about them in our enthusiastic conversations.
