Re: Doris Day Forum Banners 2018
Thanks Bryan for this fun Doris and Rock Lover Come Back banner.
Doris pops in her pink suit and white hat against a background of greens and blues. Rock blends in wearing his green shirt.
Lover Come Back photos bring back joyous memories.
Can anyone name any sophisticated, intelligent, romantic comedies that are made today that compare with Lover Come Back? Who are the leading women and men actors of today that can match Doris' and Rock's romantic chemistry?

Re: Doris Day Forum Banners 2018
Thanks, Johnny, and no I can't think of anyone today who can match them. Perhaps actors don't have the same mystique as they used to? The talent is there, I think, but nobody seems to write sophisticated comedies anymore, do they?

Some funny lines for Doris and Rock:
Carol Templeton: Oh, I'm your wife. Ooooohh, This is horrible. I'm Ruined. Ruined.
Jerry Webster: Look, Carol, I know it's a shock to wake up and find yourself in a motel room, married; but this is the first time it's ever happened to me too.
Jerry Webster: Now, honey. You're starting our marriage off with a fight.
Carol Templeton: Oh no, I'm not. I'm starting it off with an annulment.
Jerry Webster: Forgot you? I sent you hundreds of letters. I wrote one every day for eight months.
Carol Templeton: And the ninth month, when I needed you most, not a word.
Jerry Webster: I didn't know what was happening. You sent back every letter unopened.
Carol Templeton: If you loved me, you'd have kept on writing.
Carol Templeton: I always wanted a church wedding.
Jerry Webster: The next baby, we'll have a church wedding.
Carol Templeton: Do you think you'd enjoy watching a girl undress?
Jerry Webster: I don't know. But I'm willing to give it a try.

Another perfect Lover Come Back Doris\Rock banner. The screenplay dialogue
written by Stanley Shapiro and Paul Henning remains crisp and hilarious fifty plus years
Thanks Bryan!

Thanks, Peter and Johnny! Here's a new one from Puck:

Below, one I made but didn't think it was quite good enough:

Thinking of Rock, the new biography, All That Heaven Allows -A Biography of Rock Hudson, is now out and you can get the audiobook free if you join Audible (the first book is free) www.audible.uk or www.audible.com etc
Search for:
Just listening to it, it's very frank and has an excellent narrator.

I love the crisp new banner from LCB. The blues really pop and it captures the magical rapport between these two icons.
More great work from the wonderful Puck and Bryan.
Thank you both.

The radiant look between Doris and Rock in the new Lover Come Back banner is illustrated by their authentic smiles and laughing eyes. Have you ever noticed when one laughs really hard, the eyes tend to close and the moth opens wide?
Doris and Rock's connection was always real, and the audience always recognized this.
Thank you Bryan and Puck for this feel - good banner.

Thanks all. How long was the forum offline? Sometimes I don't know these things are happening.

It's amost Christmas and I was talking about us all watching Lover Come Back together, which is why I've stayed with it. Now I'm thinking perhaps it should be By the Light of the Silvery Moon, with the Xmas element to it?

What do you think and when should we do it? Or should I come up with a proposal in a separate topic and see how people respond? That's probably the best thing to do?

This Doris and Gordon By The Light of The Silvery banner is a true favourite of mine. It reminds me of all the warmth, humour and love in the companion films, On Moonlight Bay and By The Light of The Silvery Moon.
I like the idea of a separate topic such as Sharing Forum Doris Day Films or something similar.
Bryan, what do you think of the idea of sharing On Moonlight Bay followed by By The Light of The Silvery Moon? I believe the first film has the hysterically funny scene where Wesley is being fitted for his Christmas choir angel wings.
Thank you

Love the moon banner. It takes me back to my childhood when I thought Doris and Gordon MacRae were the most perfect couple ever!
Like Irene Dunne done.
Re: Doris Day Forum Banners 2018
They were Howard.

Re: Doris Day Forum Banners 2018
I think they were too. More nieve times, No gay men pretending to be straight men pretending to be gay men.
Just total fantasy. I don't think there were even any black people in either film, were there?
This looks a bit like it could be from On Moonlight Bay but I'm not sure. (Wrong hairstyle, Jas?)

What a terrific December Doris Day banner! This photo is new to me.
I love the vintage sleigh in the photo. This looks looks like an early 1950's publicity picture with Doris looking so happy after taking a spill in the snow.
Thank you Bryan and Peter!

Thanks, boys, happy holidays to you too, Michael! I hope yer all getting ready for Christmas. I like the fact that you can be a bit lazy at Xmas. loaf around, sleep late, eat too much, watch too much TV and generally just relax. I can't wait!

Johnny, the photo(s) are dated 1951. The one below, on the set of On Moonlight Bay, also from Peter is by Mac Julian.

Thanks Puck and Bryan for the spirited Doris banner illustrating both the tomboy and feminine sides of her On Moonlight Bay character Marjorie.
How many young girls in 1916 played baseball? Her strong character was way ahead of her time. She looks terrific in her baseball uniform.
