I don’t have much to add beyond what Johnny said. The film is a breezy romp and it has an excellent supporting cast. I vigorously second Johnny and Judy’s endorsement of the criminally underrated Gene Nelson. He was a genius choreographer and dancer and his acting was always pleasant. Doris sails through the film effortlessly and I love her dancing. To me, the standout in the supporting cast is Eve Arden with her razor sharp line delivery.

TFT is one of those escapist films that is perfect for a rainy afternoon.

Bryan, I can't thank you enough for posting that Harry Nillson concert. Just fabulous. It's always been a favorite album of mine - I'm wondering - was what i just watched the actual recording of the album or a concert? Seems like the recording to me. Whatever it was, it was heavenly. Thanks again, Bryan.

Bryan, thanks for the sweet comment about my musical knowledge. No, I didn't work in the industry; just have enjoyed doing a lot of reading and research over the years to indulge my passion for popular music (especially from the Great American Songbook) and my admiration for songwriters and singers whose talents I think are particularly impressive.

Thank you to Bryan and Puck for this lovely Doris Tea For Two banner.

The pop of blue always brings out Doris' beautiful blue eyes.

Doris often wears understated jewelry like the baby spoon pin in the photo that creates additional interest. I have noticed that in many of Doris' photos and films, she wears a single gold band bracelet. In this photo it is a double band.

Just beautiful!

So, moving on, Johnny said (Today In Doris Day History), "On 9 November 1953, the Calamity Jane soundtrack album was released."

Thanks Bryan for another fun Calamity Jane banner. I love the earnest look on Doris' face as she looks at the paper. It made me wonder if the real Calamity Jane could read. The look on the man's face is perfect as Jane has her feet propped on the seat. This photo illustrates Calamity Jane's huge personality.

Calamity Jane has aged well. I can watch it over and over again and never tire of it. Great songs too and another iconic role for Doris. Why oh why didn't Jack Warner find another outstanding musical role for Doris?

Thanks all. Yes, I was wondering if the extra in the last banner had a copy of the photo with Calamity's boots on the back of his seat? I was imagining him showing it to people, or his grandchildren, "This is me with Doris Day in Calamity Jane". :)

At the peak of her sixties beauty when she recorded one of her very best albums, Duet w/ Andre Previn. I wonder whose idea it was for them to collaborate on a jazz album. Whoever it was, we owe them a huge debt of gratitude. An inspired duo!

Michael, in the David Kaufman book, it is reported that American record producer Irving Townsend who signed Andre Previn thought of pairing Doris Day with Previn for the Duet album.

I love the songs Give Me Time, Wait Till You See Him and Close Your Eyes on this heavenly album. It really showcases Doris' versatility.

Johnny, thank you. I would never have thought to look this up in David’s book. You are a treasure!

BTW, I’ve always considered Wait Til You See Him as one the very best cuts from Duet, but it is often overlooked in favor of Close Your Eyes, No One’s Heart Belongs To Me and My One And Only Love among others. Her vocal is so passionate on this song. I’ve often wondered who she might have been thinking of when she sang it. And those gorgeous, understated lines that Previn plays on the piano are simply breathtaking.

Thanks,
Michael

Beautiful banner, Bryan!

Johnny & Michael, I love the "Duet" album, too. I believe that that session was not the first time Doris sang with Previn. He did the piano work in the film "Young at Heart," but might not have gotten screen credit for it.

This is one of the all- time beautiful Doris Day banners. Doris has a wonderful Mona Lisa mysterious smile and a warm glow from her soft pink shirt.

Just beautiful!

Thank you Bryan.
