US Bill To Honor Doris Day

Unread post by jmichael »

At Judy / Music Lover's request, I am posting a link to a bipartisan bill that was introduced to the US House Of Representatives on May 30th. The intent is to honor the life and career of Doris Day.

Thank you, Michael. 'Tis a pity that Congress can't bypass its normal procedures and just take a floor vote instead of having the resolution delayed in a committee for who knows how long!

I’m not clear on how this works but it seems the sponsors of the bill will have to lobby other members of Congress to get this on the House floor for a vote. Given the many pressing issues already on their plates, this could get lost in the shuffle. I’m also unclear about exactly what would happen if it passed.

Thank you Michael!

A US Bill to honour Doris Day, a beautiful idea.

One can always hope that lawmakers could make a decision to honour one of the most loved entertainers in the 20th century.

I fear the bill will not be given importance. However, perhaps they could pass it by April 3 -2020 to remember and celebrate Doris Day's birthday.

Has anyone heard what happened to the bill to honour Doris Day? Did the bill die with the last administration?

Who initiated the bill.?

Is there anything DD Forum members can do to help the passage of the bill?

I hope everyone is well on this first day of May 2021.
