Day Albums

Unread post by René »

I just read at MP3.com that several of Day's albums, such as "Cuttin Capers", "What Every Girl Should Know" and "Day By Night" were commercial flops. Could that be true??? The site did say that almost all of her 10 inch soundtrack albums from her early films garnered the No. 1 slot, including "Love Me Or Leave Me", which would mean that she had several No. 1 albums back-to-back. "I Have Dreamed" only broke the top 100. Can anyone verify these numbers? Thanks!

Hi Lauren,
That's a good suggestion, but it would be too much copying and pasting since each album is critiqued separately and not all in one place. Nevertheless, it does make for an interesting read.

Film star Doris Day has been killed off in a new song by the Who, despite being alive and well and living in the USA.

In the new Who song 'Mirror Door', Townshend pays tribute to the stars who have left this mortal earth. The only trouble is, Doris isn't dead yet.

"Howling Wolf, and old Link Wray / Dave Van Ronk and Doris Day / Bobby Darin, Brownie McGhee / Elvis, Buddy and Eddie C" sings Roger Daltrey in the Townshend written song that features on The Who's first studio album is a quarter of a century.

"I was absolutely convinced she was dead," The Who star told London's Daily Express. Unfortunately, the faux pas was only pointed out to Townshend after the album was pressed and ready for shipping.

The reclusive movie star in now 82 years old. She hasn't worked since her 1971 TV show 'The Doris Day Show' went off the air.

America's sweetheart Doris' major film roles were in the movies 'Please Don't Eat The Daisies', 'Pillow Talk', 'Calamity Jane', and 'The Pajama Game'.

Interesting to hear she made a song - not dead though ! The article should have said she hasn't worked in the entertainment industry - she sure has been working in the animal rights arena since then !!

Sorry -- I meant to say that its fantastic Doris made the charts in Australia. Do you know if she's hit any other ones or just the Aussie charts ?

Thanks for the info !
