Ke mo ki mo!

Unread post by miss maxwell »

When I first watched "The uniform", the second episode of the first season of the Doris Day Show, I found the kids' song they're singing at the end absolutely enchanting. I would often burst out singing it and I wanted to find out if there was a recording of it by anyone (I knew Doris hadn't recorded it). I searched and searched -- I didn't even know the title but Peter's great list of rare songs got me started! What I came up with is that it's a Nat King Cole song from a kiddies album he recorded in 1947...! You can read more here. Now this all might be well known to some of you but there might some that were wondering about it like I did. I'm posting for those who didn't know to learn and for everyone to enjoy! :D

From the Doris Day show

and Nat King Cole's recording -- with lyrics

That is just such a cute song especially with Toby singing it.

Thanks for sharing,

I sound like Toby, that's why I don't sing.

Miss Maxwell, wasnt that a darling clip of doris singing with the kids and grandpa ? What a cute song ...
I find it hard to see little Toby and know that his future would be cut so short, by the tragic motorcycle accident. I loved to get to hear doris sing on her show, she didnt do it too often, but when she did I loved it.
Doris was so good with children, you could just see her love for them .

Suzie,

You are exactly right. I think she just loved being around children. She loved making the album with the children, I remember her talking about that on her birthday broadcast and to play more of those songs.
