Thanks for that Peter, wasn't DD in fantastic voice - no indication whatsoever of nerves- that she spoke about in her book when it came to going live radio etc.

Peter, it's fun to hear these shows and I'm glad you posted the links. I wonder whether anyone has found tapes (if they exist) of some of the shows Doris sang on at WLW in the early 1940s, too.

Good find, Peter. It's on Amazon, too. I found the full index at radiogoldindex.com, and it also shows an audition recording for Doris dated "c. 1944" (which I think was actually 1942, because she rejoined Les Brown's band in March, 1943.

Nice photo, Peter. Thirteen years after this photo was taken, Axel Stordahl, after being Sinatra's longtime arranger/conductor, was the conductor on Doris's "Showtime" album. They were so good together, but I don't think they ever collaborated on another album.

Right you are. I overlooked that when I was thinking more of an entire non-movie album collaboration like those Stordahl did for Sinatra.

Hi there,

Added the link to the Your Hit Parade Show from 1947-10-11... This will be the last one, I think... (the other shows aren't mentioned anywhere) But if you'll find some information, please share.
Hope the link works:
https://app.box.com/s/dz8v09q48k7kyydtil91vnd3uto5dz2d

In the information I found about this show, it was mentioned that Doris was singing with Frank on the song: Over The Rainbow... well I didn't hear her... owwwww

And have found "Civilization" from the Your Hit Parade Show from 1947-11-15 with Vic Damone... This show has in the listening above some missing information.

Enjoy,

P

Peter, thanks for your latest posting. Guess we both were mislead on "Over The Rainbow" being sung by Doris and Frank. But at the end it's good to know the correct information.

Hi again,

Aren't you bored with me...

Doris is on 13 Your Hit Parade Shows, 7 shows are now available. On the shows Doris sings 2,3 or 4 songs. Below are the songs from all the shows sung by Doris. Only the first show has Doris speaking (briefly "Hi people"), so I think the songs are prerecorded and Frank or Del Sharbutt did the intro's to the songs. In all of the known songs by Doris it's Frank. The number one song is always by Frank.
