Peter, the three test pressings are very likely the same song versions as were released commercially. I have found that to be the case on other test pressings advertised on Ebay. Happy Days, Texas Gonzalo

Hi Texas,

Thanks for your reply, thought the same… But never saw test pressings before, so that's why I shared them here.
What about the disc below? Could it be Doris that sings: You May Not Love Me?
Image
This disc is probably from 1946... But the seller, doesn't know if the singer is Doris. He wouldn't/coudn't let me hear it....

What do you all think?

Hi Howard,

No it doesn't, does it play on your computer/laptop? Internet, google, says it's to easy to change to mp3. Haven't done that yet.

Howard and Peter, triple WOW!! What a great find. Thank you Peter for finding the song, and Howard and James for posting the recording of this rare Doris Day/Les Brown song. I wish I had the facilities to share the Buddy Clark/Doris Day "Strawberry Moon" with everyone. I only heard it once before my turntable died on me. But don't lose hope. In the meantime, Happy Days, Texas Gonzalo

Hello Howard & Bryan,

A big thank you for this song, I found it's name years back, never thought it would be heard. And here it is. So great to hear new stuff... There must be so much more in the faults… Hope to find them too.

You all made my Day,

P

Such fun to hear these rare recordings. "You May Not Love Me" was one of the last songs Doris sang when working for Les Brown. I believe this was from August, 1946. The recording of "Love Letters" was a year earlier, and the song became Oscar-nominated.

I've just opened a dropbox account - here's a link to Doris-Les Brown recording of "There, I've Said It Again:"

Thanks for sharing this 1945 song, Howard. It's the first time I've heard the Les Brown version. The song was written by Redd Evans and Dave Mann, who also wrote "No Moon At All," which Doris recorded in late 1947 as a V-disc for U.S. military personnel. (That one's on youtube.)

Hi again,

A while ago I wrote about this Les Brown transcription disc. Karl Pearson transferred it to mp3 for us.

Thanks for posting this, Peter. This version of "You May Not Love Me" is much clearer than the one I had posted. Enjoyed listening.
