Thanks for sharing these, Howard. First time I've heard Doris's rendition of "Like Someone in Love." Dinah Shore introduced it on screen in 1944, but I think one of the nicest renditions of it was Ella's about a dozen years later.

OOOOWWWW Howard,

Thank you so much for these old treasures… I've been looking for them for years... I'm dancing on these old Les Brown - Doris Day songs... So great to hear them finally.

So grateful to you, always!!

P

P.S.: I may be wrong but "Like Someone In Love" is probably one of the songs with the highest notes I heard Doris ever sing.

Hi Howard,

What a treat again, thank you too for the "Somewhere In The Night" and "It's Been A Long Long Time" we only had the 1965 rendition of this song, it's very different from the 1944 version. Do you actually own these transcription records too???

Always nice to hear from you,

P

Hi Peter: No, I don't own any transcription records. Believe it or not, I've had these songs for such a long time, I don't really remember in what form they were received. All I can tell you is that the late Donald Chang, who was a great friend, and a super DD fan, had them and thanks to him we are lucky enough to have these wonderful recordings.

Hi Howard,

Wish I had the change to meet Donald Chang, he was a big collector and knew much about Doris career. I have a few cd's where he contributed his photo's and information on. Donald is to be seen in the YouTube video's below and so are you..

Hi Peter: Thanks for posting those links. I saw the videos before, but not in some time. Nice memories, indeed. Peter, I don't really see myself in any of those three convention videos, although i was there, and it was such an amazing day!

And I seem to recall I have seen some moving pictures of you on that convention… Am I wrong or are that serveral photo's taken with Doris and you... I have some of them years back taken from this forum, shared by Lauren as I recall.

Howard, thanks again for posting yet another rare Day/Brown track most of us had never heard before. From my notes, I gather that all of these tracks you have posted originated from World Program Service 16" transcriptions recorded in the Spring of 1944. In those transcriptions there are three tracks later released as Columbia Red Lable 78's in 1945. These are "T'aint Me", "We'll Be Together Again" and "You Won't Be Satisfied." You might want to listen to these three tracks since they appear to be in the batch of recordings you now have. Perhaps these three tracks are different versions than those released in 1945. Please refer to the listing of Non-commercial Doris Day/ Les Brown tracks I posted earlier and is contained under the Web Forum caption The Music of Doris Day on page 4, next to last topic on page 4. From what you have posted and what is now available on commercil CD's already released, there remain about 20 tracks left to be found. Happy listening and Happy Days, Texas Gonzalo

Hadn't heard this arrangement of "Take Me in Your Arms" before. Thanks, Howard. Doris recorded the song about 7 years later for a V-disc in 1952 with Percy Faith's orchestra. That rendition is worth a listen on youtube.

Hi Howard,

A big thrill to hear another classic one. One of the songs Doris sang later again in her career. I'm so happy with these old ones. Hope to find some more in the future... Now hunting for Les Brown/Bob Hope/Doris Day transcription records. But not so easy to find online. Wish I was in America to visit one of the library's or bigger collectors who wants to trade or sell. Will today/tomorrow add the contents of the transcription disc I mentioned a few weeks ago. This is a Les Brown/Jack Haskell/Butch Stone/Doris Day transcription record. The only song Doris sings is: "You May Not Love Me" a song you've just added here. It's in a little bit better shape.

Hope to hear some more.

Peter
