Great! Thanks for that, Mike. Amazing to think that people have been listening to Doris for around 70 years - and she's still selling records!

Oh well - that's two links now anyway. :)

Thanks Nada

PS I bought some video software today that gives us an extra 20 GB of space on Box net, so lots more room to share!

A few minutes ago I uploaded video
1958 At Oscars Doris Day, Clark Gable

Tell me please, how much space do I have on my account - I would upload more documentaries, they are larger files. If there is any space, should I split files before uploading and what is maximum MB?

Thank you,
Nada

Just checked and it looks like the additional space has been added - it says 21.7GB of 100.0GB has been used - so don't worry about space for now and it anyone has anything they want to share get it touch.

I wouldn't split material if you can avoid it.

When I tried to upload a larger file, I saw that the storage of my account is almost totally used - 9.3 GB of 10 GB. And it also says, that max file size is 250 MB.
It doesn't aloved me to upload any larger file. So I understand, that I have to split a file of 400 MB to two pices. Am I right? And there is a limit space - 700 MB left.

Peter & Texas Gonzalo -
The extensive work both of you have done in compiling your lists is just great.

Peter, on your recent list for two 1945 programs (Feb. 27 and Dec. 10), there is a reference to Manson Hospital. That's a typo; the hospital's name is Mason -- no N in the middle. During WWII it was a psychiatric hospital in New York used by the Army for patients who were suffering from what we today call PTSD.

Re: the February 1956 radio broadcast, that was a fund-raiser for the American Heart Association. My catalogue notes show that Doris's song was broadcast on the 24th of that month.

If you're unable to replace the broken CD, Doris's 1949 rendition of "(Where Are You) Now That I Need You" is one of the recordings on a great CD called Ballads and Love Songs. It contains two dozen other songs she recorded from 1947 to 1951. I got mine from Amazon for about $8 and it's one of my very favorites.

Peter,
What a tremendous effort on your part in sharing with us data on all these wonderful songs. And Musiclover, thanks for your comments on The Discography. I have updated The Discography based on Peter's posting.
I am pointing out one item which needs correcting, and another which I will ask for you to research before correcting a date for one of the One Night Stands. The first involves the song "Amour" which you showed as "Amore". The other involves AFRS One Night Stand #596 for which you show a date of 06-02-1945. I believe the date should be 02-06-45. But check me out. With that aside again let me thank you for all the invaluable data you have shared with us. Your being able to post the audio on 22 files is truly remarkable. I wish to share my excitement on two particular files so that others can also enjoy them. First there is folder (file) #18 which features the song "It Had To Be You". Doris's treatment on this version shows why she was considered one of the best, if not the best, jazz singers with the big bands. The other involves Folder #22 (Spotlight Band #324). The songs "Embraceable You" and "San Fernando Valley" were performed before a live audience at the Mayo General Hospital in Galesburg, Illinois. The reaction of the audience upon hearing "Embraceable You" is quite remarkable. I was caught in the excitement as they were. The song if presented as a solo performance with the band taking a back seat. It is remarkable the great interpretation a 20 year old singer could impart on the lyrics of this great song.
Your postings have inspired me on a project I have been working on for some time. You will recall that in The Definitive Doris Day Discography I mentioned there were about 80 songs Doris sang with Les Brown which were non-commercial in nature. According to my research there are 85 such songs. Through Joyce, Lost Treasures, Varese Saraband, Collector's Choice, Peter and Mikeydv, about 46 songs have surfaced for us all to hear. That leaves about 39 which we have for the most part not ever heard. I will be posting the complete listing at a later date.
Again thank you Peter for all your efforts on our behalf.
Happy Days, Texas Gonzalo

Hi Texas,

Thank you for your new information. I will look that up. Amour is spelled differently in a few lists, so I got confused how to write it.

If things work out, I will have a new show this week. If so, I'll keep you informed.

Have an nice Day,

P

Texas Gonzalo, you are quite right that the title should not be "Amore." On the sheet music it is "Amor" rather than "Amour" (the lyric was originally written in Spanish, not French).

Date notations in the international/military format of day-month-year, rather than month-day-year as we customarily do in the U.S., can sometimes cause a question to arise . . . but it would appear to me that Peter's 06-02-45 reference is correct because of the program number's chronology (that is, #596 -- which is between #494 on 15-01-45 and #609 on 27-02-45 on his list). If it were changed from February to June, or from 06-02-45 to 02-06-45, then the program number would be somewhere in the high 600s to be consistent with the others in the summer.

Hi Musiclover,
Thanks for the information on the two corrections I had pointed out. I have changed The Discography to show the correct song title for "Amor" in the three places it appeared on The Discography. You are correct about the confusion which arises from using the date notations under the "international/military" style and that commonly used in the U.S. That is the reason why The Discography shows the date/month/year spelled out. I basically wanted the data I show to be absolutely correct. Chronology is very important. Luckily the description of the entry was correct in other respects. Again thank you for your input.
Happy Days, Texas Gonzalo
