I agree the new banner is great.

Suzie's question would be a good thread. Guess when the photo was taken. My guess on this one is 1958.

It's an absolute lovely picture, but isn't it a little, just a tiny itsy-bitsy too big...?

Are you saying size matters, Marion?

Yes, it is very big but I think it's okay - just experimenting - I may change it again next week.

I'm sure you wouldn't!

Just thinking, to go back Suzie's comment, even though the photo was used to illustrate an item on Please Don't Eat the Daisies, I think it's from an earlier period, maybe as Megan says circa Tunnel of Love, or Ellen says 1958. She looks fresh as a button there!

Thanks Suzie - Marion has a point but it's nice to give Doris a big splash!

She had such great teeth, didn't she! :) Also that photo was taken from her left side, which she grew to dislike later in her film career, but it looks pretty good to me and, I'm sure, to everyone else!

I think that (publicity) photo must have been taken 'outside of a film role' as the hairstyle doesn't match any of the film roles. Looks like it's from The Pajama Game/Tunnel of Love period:

I'd say not Pajama Game - Doesn't fit with the hairs at the side, does it?

No, but it could have been swept back for the film - but it does look more like the hairstyle in the Tunnel of Love photo.

Gosh, her teeth are GREAT! I thought it was so cute when Kaye Ballard once referred to her being so adorable "with her little buck teeth".

If you go under the Doris Day Fan Web Site and scroll down to Publications....click on magazines you will
see that photo of Doris on that Magazine which is the year 1960.
Hope that will clear up what year it was taken.

Carol, I don't agree with your rationale. The date of the magazine is not necessarily an indication of when the picture on the front was taken. Doris did not wear her hair like this in 1960 - it was growing longer [post pillow talk and pre Love Come Back in 1961]- look how she wore her hair to the 1960 Oscars - a la Midnight Lace.

Bryan,
THANK YOU for that beautiful photo of Doris - I have always loved that photo and have the magazine it is from that you showed earlier. Yes, her teeth shine - remember Terry had that same toothy smile that is so great. Please keep this lovely banner photo up for a LONG TIME! You always come up with some wonderful photos and this is fabulous.

Hi Bryan,

I love this new banner. Doris put her hands an footprints in cement in 1961.
A long time ago I posted a lot of this photo's on your site. Don't know if they are still available.

Thank you for this one.

Another nice banner. Anyone know anything about the story behind the neat pin doris is wearing ? Three birds on a branch ? I was wondering if perhaps it was made at the time of LCB, because of the movie having the birds at the start and finish of the film ? Anyone have a clue ? Mary anne ? anybody ? Must have been special made as it is very unique . :?:

Sorry, Mary Anne, I changed before I even saw your post - I just feel I want to try lots of different ones and the next one is already lined up! So if anyone wants to save the images, do it while you can. That previous photo of her was really great though - I may try and alternate them at some stage but we all know there are hundreds - more like thousands - of amazing photos of her.

Yes, I remember those photos you published, Peter - they are on here somewhere - you could always click 'view my posts' and you might be able to find them and make a link.

Suzie, I didn't notice the brooch until you mentioned it - interesting.

Bryan,
Thanks for another awesome photo and I love them being so large - WOW - what a great smile she has and it looks like a very happy time for her at Graumans. Have been to her foot prints many times.

You outdid yourself Bryan with another lovely photo - you are right - there must be millions of them and all so darn great. Doris just makes you smile when you see her looking so happy.

Thanks Bryan!!!!

Love the new banner Bryan! Doris looks absolutely beautiful! I hadn't noticed the pin either.. You know, it's not very easy to write your name in cement. We were laying some cement in the backyard, and tried to write our names in it. Let me tell you, it was no easy deed.
