Debbie Reynolds Live!

Unread post by doris-day-fan »

This past Tuesday, November 25th, I had the pleasure of seeing Debbie Reynolds LIVE at our Indianapolis Symphony for her one woman show - she was GREAT! At 76 (she told her age) (hard to believe because she looked marvelous) she was a real trouper - sang and danced and told stories - joked about her age and just plain gave more than 100% to her audience. We met with her briefly after the show and she was very kind, posed for photos and chatted. In the back of my mind I could only dream that we would have been so fortunate to have had Doris still out there doing a show like that when she was 76. Debbie, like Doris is a true Hollywood legend - they bring/brought so much joy to audiences. This was truly a part of history and I am grateful to a friend who invited me to attend Debbie's live show. If you get a chance to see her - go!

I think Doris could do it now -- at 86! Maybe bring a few dogs onstage to dance with her, donate proceeds to her animal fund. OK, I'm delusional from all that Thanksgiving turkey!

Glad you had such a great time Mary Anne! I met Debbie many, many years ago and she was delightful then too.

Yes Diane I was able to take some marvelous photos of Debbie. She was very gracious in meeting with us and a few others after the show and looked radiant up close. I was very happy that I had this opportunity and I hope others will have a chance to see one of her shows as Debbie is touring now and then. If I knew how to post photos on the forum I would, but until I find out I am not able to share them with anyone on the forum just yet.

That's really amazing, your so lucky to have met with her! I'm sure the concert was great. I never knew that she was back singing again. Some people still tour which is great like Tony Bennet who I wish to see. :)

I saw Tony Bennett in concert a little over a year ago. It was amazing!! If anyone ever gets the chance to go see him, you should go. He even brought his daughter out and they sang a duet. It was something I'll always remember, I mean at his age for him to still be out there singing as well as he did...I mean wow. :D

I too have seen Tony Bennett - 3 times. One time I met him back stage and asked who his favourite singer female singer was - he mentioned Sarah Vaughan. In hindsight, would have love to have asked him about Doris - at that time I didn't know he had co-starred in her TV show, nor that she is one of his favourites too!

Would love to hear Doris sing a song I have only ever heard Tony Bennett sing- 'I wonder when the bells ring for me'.

Wow, it sounds like we've all seen Tony Bennett. I saw him in 1975....he was wonderful. Saw him in Baltimore at Pier Six...with the Balto. Symphony Orchestra. I was much younger then and as I sat back and enjoyed his performance...I was (even then) thinking about Tony knowing Doris.

As far as Debbie Reynolds....I would love to see her too. Would love to hear her sing "Tammy."

Hello everyone - sorry but I've had the mother of all colds and haven't been able to do much apart from sweat, cough and watch TV. I'm just starting to come back to life.

Mary Anne sent me a couple of pics of her meeting with Debbie so here they are:

Thanks Mary Anne and Bryan for posting these. Debbie is still lovely today! And Mary Anne, you've certainly met your share of celebrities. The only one I've ever "run into" was Richard Chamberlain while he was in Baltimore for an appearance back in the early 80's. We both collided while coming around a corner on foot. We pardoned ourselves and went on our way. I was stunned for days. That was during the time of The Thornbirds -- which I loved -- the book and the movie. :)

Hi Bryan,

Love the new banner! You always pick the best photos for the season. Have you seen the new photo for Doris's Christmas CD - very nice tooThanks for putting up the photos of Debbie - I am glad that everyone can see how pretty Debbie is - I keep thinking about some of her remarks - it was almost like a musical history of MGM musicals...

Hope you are over your cold...there is a lot of that going around - stay warm and have a hot totty!

Have you seen the new cover for Doris's Christmas CD? It is very nice too.

Thanks again, Bryan - you're a dear....

I've seen Debbie Reynolds twice at the casino's in Connecticut. The second time I saw her I got to shake hands with her. That was a few years ago. She puts on a great show and she does look great. She sang "Tammy" at the end of both show.

Sorry, John, there are some words that are banned from the days when we were getting a lot of spam on here - try the preview button to check. One way of getting around it is to s-p-e-l-l it with hyphens.

I must say that debbie has that same star quality that doris has. Not everyone who was a super star has that (it )that makes people love them even after retiring like doris , or still performing like debbie.Doris like debbie would bring in a huge crowd as well, but dosnt want to anymore and I dont blame her at all, by the time someone is in their 80s they should be able to do what they want. Debbie on the other hand loves to work and so she does.Thats great too. I loved debbie in "tammy ". What a doll.
