Translation western movie

Hi,
one friend of my try to translate western movie called Cimarron 1960,
he doesn´t know how to tranlate slangy word "skimmeroot"
Please what does it mean exactly? I tried to use google and some
english dictionary but I didn´t found it. Can you please someone help him?

I couldn't find it either but as someone answered you elsewhere, they thought it meant 'shorty' (small). It's obviously a slang word used around the time the film was set in (Oklahoma Land Rush, April 1889) - maybe it could be a nickname or term used for one of the younger characters?
