Here's a really cute early picture of Doris. I'm guessing around 1949.

It is really nice to see the wonderful assortment of photos of Doris. Incidently, the photo posted by Dayniac on April 19th at 11:38 just above the photo of Doris with Cary Grant was taken in 1973. She was filming a dog food commercial and the black and white dog she is kissing is Bambi and Daisy is just between them and my favorite, Schatzie, is bottom off center. It was a great day - the dogs were in the commercial which never made it after a 3 city test market. It was great fun being there with her while all this was going on. Doris looked great in that outfit, wish it was in color!
Just a little trivia!!!! Keep posting more great photos.

Hi - Thanks for the information. I wasn't sure what the pictures were for. It must be fantastic to know Doris and to have been with her. I have this picture in color that I think was taken at the same time.
Glad you're enjoying the pictures. I have a lot on my computer..too many !
Thanks-

I was going to ask you these questions when I talk to you tomorrow evening but thought maybe others might have the same questions:

1. Why does Doris have the Bandaid on her finger? Was that the last vestige of the horrible dog bite?

2. What are the names of the dogs?

This wasn't the margarine commercial was it?

Lauren
How about some pictures with Doris with other stars. The Mae West was a hoot. I cannot believe that there are no pics of Doris with Liz Taylor, Marilyn Monroe, Shirley MacLaine, Paul Newman, Gregory Peck, Bette Davis (they were at Warners together). The only star I saw Day photographed with at the Globes was Clint Eastwood. There must have been more!

The reason your pic was so large that is has a resolution of 300dpi (dots per inch)
- pics for the web should be at 72dpi.

I think Lauren has pointed to a way of reducing image size somewhere - perhaps ask her.
Actually it would be good if you could keep them within a max of 10inches wide as it throws the topic out and you have to scroll across to read.

There are lots of free programs for working with pics - Google it -
I use Photoshop - you can also adjust the colours, touch up slightly, etc:

Hi -- Thank you - I'm completely new at sharing photographs so I can use a lot of help. For years I'm only saved them to my computer. I'd like to share them in a better way. I don't want to mess up your website. So - I will try to use the program you suggested.

Thanks -
Toni

FANTASTIC PHOTOS

Unread post by Karen T »

Thanks everyone, I love looking at the photos, quite a lot that I have not seen before. 'Dayniac', you have a great collection, I love the photo with Donna Reed. I have not posted photos for a while so I have forgotten how to do it ... I'll have to have a little practice (unfortunatley the photos I have, we have all seen before)! I remember a couple of years ago I found a great set of photos of Doris with Les Brown for 'Down beat magazine', I asked Bryan how to post them and he explained, but the photo was 'HUGE' and it went on forever and ever sending the page about three feet long, Bryan had to remove it, I was so embarrassed! lol

Lauren,
Sorry for being a little tardy in answering...

1) Yes, the bandage was a result of a "skirmish" with the kids - more in the book.
2) Doris is snuggling with Bambi, Daisy is in between and my favorite is Schatzie, in the bottom center.
3) No, this was not the margarine commercial - it was the first Dog food commercial in 1973...again, more details in the book.

Hope this helps....love those photos of DOris -
