Found this lovely shot of Doris from the set taken for the cover of the DUET CD with Andre Previn.

Joining the chorus of thank-you's to Lauren, Ania, and others for the parade of pictures over many decades.
LOVE seeing the more recent ones from Carmel.

Rare and great picture of Doris's brother Paul. That man was Jim Murphy who did a video of the 1993 weekend in Carmel.

Yes, brilliant photos, Alan, Howard and Ania!
Didn't realise that Paul Kappelhoff (right name?) had lived into adulthood - probably because I'd only seen pics of him as a child. And love that last Midnight Lace photo, Ania!

Re: 2015 Doris Day Pictures
Paul Kappelhoff died the week after Doris's birthday in 1957 and, according to my notes, just a few days before she began work on "Teacher's Pet." His wife and two young sons survived him. Music promoter Sam Weiss recalled, "He was one of the nicest men I ever met." He must've been like his sister.

Judy, I don't know anything about Paul - what did he die of?

Re: 2015 Doris Day Pictures
Paul died from a baseball beaning from his childhood. Sadly it caused his death at a young age. After the baseball injury he had a condition for years from it.
Re: 2015 Doris Day Pictures
I had to look that up - it means, "hit in the head with a pitch." Or a ball being thrown at you, I would think.
Thanks Ray.

Re: 2015 Doris Day Pictures
Yes it happened from being hit in thehead with the baseball. A shame. Paul could have been with Doris all these years.

Re: 2015 Doris Day Pictures
One small point: Per DD, Paul Kappelhoff's baseball injury didn't actually happen in childhood; during his college years, he played for a Cincinnati Reds' minor league team and that's when it occurred.

Re: 2015 Doris Day Pictures
The above photos are wonderful, wonderful. I could write a song!!! Ha!
Paul died of a seizure, which was caused by the beaning on the head. They did not have medications back then to stop the seizures, which are plentiful now. Doris and Marty hired him to work for them and he and wife and children moved to L.A. from Cincinnati. He would not have been able to drive nor obtain a license to drive back then.

Thank you all for the beautiful pictures. The photographer always had a gorgeous subject when photographing Doris. The camera definitely loved her. And it is easy to see why. Always stunning.

Thank you all for the wonderful pictures and in particular for the one of Doris with her brother Paul. Doris has had so much tragedy in her life and is still able to smile, laugh and bring so much happiness and joy to others. What a remarkable woman and a inspiration!

Re: 2015 Doris Day Pictures
What an interesting photo, Michael. It looks like something that they may have on movie sets so that an actress in her outfit about ready to go in front of the camera and rest a bit without messing up her clothes.
