Howard - A great tune as are so many of those he wrote. Did you ever meet Raq? She was really a nice woman and it was easy to see why she and Doris hit it off so easily. I last saw her in January of 2000 at Nate 'n Al's. We chatted about the new millennium and how all the talk about what was going to happen didn't materialize. We both had the Pastrami New Yorker which was the sandwich Doris introduced me to there way back in the 1970''s and a treat that never disappoints.

Never had the pleasure, but if Doris liked her, she must have been special!

1952 - Doris Day welcomed home the anti-aircraft cruiser, USS Juneau, from a stint in the Korean War..She was given a 3 hour tour of the ship . News photogs and reporters were there for see that she got some good publicity. She was voted queen by the crew - Queen Doris Day.

Great photos, Ania -- thanks! A clipping I have shows that these were taken on November 5 -- almost exactly at the midpoint of Doris's weekly radio program. One reason she was then so popular with the military was that every week for the 14 months of her program, she always acknowledged the troops and encouraged her audience to support them. Her genuine appreciation for them was really obvious.

Thank you Peter for all the great photos of Doris. They certainly brighten my day.

I love them all. I find the one of her at the Golden Globes so charming and natural. There never seems to be a false moment in any of her pictures - ever.

Thanks again!

Thanks Ania for the beautiful pictures of Doris. I have not seen these before. I wonder who the men are in the picture with Doris and Rock.

Though the photos are black and white, Doris appears to wearing white in both pictures which always looks perfect on her.

Thanks again Ania!
