Actually the pictures have been called down to earth and Doris looks like the rest of us. She looks good for her age in the pics. I would keep them up.

Thank you Peter for the beautiful photos of Doris. I really like the 1958 picture and the 1993 picture of Doris in the cart. Doris' sparkle remains constant over the 35 years.

These photos make my Canada Day more special. It is a wonderful way to start July 2016.

Don't know the story but I found this online:

Singing actress Doris Day models one of the American-girl-look outifts she's designing for Little Miss English Ltd. The full skirt and matching sleeveless camisole blouse are of silk-finish cotton satin in a leaf print on soft blue. The companion sweater, a feature of all Miss Day's designs, picks up one of the leaf colors and is trimmed with French cuffs and Peter Pan collar of the print material. The three pieces may be bought separately.

I know I have a magazine article somewhere, about this dress too. It's from 1956th Modern Screen March edition.

Nice photos, Peter, as always. Re: the photo from Calamity Jane, I came across some interesting biographical information about Dave Kashner, who was an extra and a coach in that film. He was an expert with a whip, and had a long career as a bit player and/or coach in movies and TV shows that required someone to use a whip. He was likely the one who coached Doris in handling a whip in the opening scene.

I love the picture of Doris walking with Terry and Marty on the Calamity Jane set. They look so happy.
I also love the picture of Doris with Les Brown. She looks radiant. She looks so young.
Looking at all these great pictures really is a feel-good experience.

Yes, fantastic photos - thank you all so much, especially Peter, Ania, Dorine - and anyone I've missed!

Haven't looked in for a week or so (busy sorting out the country's problems

) and ended up saving quite a few pages (right click page side, Save As / Webpage, Complete. You'll save the browser page, plus Folder, where you'll find all the images. Remove images you want and delete page. (Just in case you didn't know).

I can see a number of banners there already! So thanks all and keep up the good work.

Never saw three of those photo!!! Where do you find them? Would loved to have seen Doris on the screen looking like that in a meaty role during that time. Her beauty comes thought with or without make up. But Doris stuck to her guns playing the Doris she wanted to project and I believe she made a the right choice.
