2018 Doris Day pictures
Re: 2018 Doris Day pictures
Gary Collins interviewed Doris on a syndicated talk show he was hosting at the time. She was promoting Doris Day's Best Friends, so this photo would have been taken in the mid-eighties.
More great photos! Thank you Peter.

Excellent, Peter - and Ania!
Howard asked me up upload the pic below with the message:
"Johnny asked for a photo of DD with Donna Reed. Here’s an MGM publicity shot of the two. I believe they were introducing Doris to their contract players that day while she was about to film “Love Me or Leave Me."

Donna Reed and Doris Day.

Thank you so much Bryan and Howard!
What a nice surprise!
I recall Doris invited Donna Reed to a surprise birthday party for her husband Marty. At the party Jerry Lewis and his wife presented Doris with their own version of an Oscar for her performance in The Man Who Knew Too Much.
Doris and Marty went to dinner with Jerry Lewis and his wife Patti; Dick Powell and his wife June Allyson;Danny Thomas and his wife Rose Marie;Donna Reed and her husband Tony Owen;Jack and Mary Benny;

Re: 2018 Doris Day pictures
Thanks so much Peter for the photo of Doris and Donna Reed fishing. It is new to me.
Doris and Donna had similar charming, warm and kind personalities. I would have liked to see them in a film together.
The Doris fashion promo is striking. Doris looked great in everything. She wore the clothes, the clothes don't wear her.
Thanks again.

Re: 2018 Doris Day pictures
Thank you Peter for all the Doris Day photos that help brighten this Saturday and get it off to a great start.
The By The Light of The Silvery Moon on-set photo of Keefe Brasselle lacing up Doris's skates is wonderful and new to me. Rarely do we see Doris wearing a ponytail. She looks so sweet.
Seeing Doris in all the photos with Gordon McRae, Richard Widmark. Rock Hudson, James Garner and Rod Taylor reminds us that she worked wit many of the best leading men in Hollywood.
The photo of Doris in the costume from Billy Rose's Jumbo is terrific. She looks like she is having a great deal of fun.
Thanks again.

Re: 2018 Doris Day pictures
Yes, great photos as always, Peter. (And thanks for all that you do!
)
I love the one of Doris and Gordon - her first real film romance, and whom you'd think of an 'ideal couple', even today. But those were more innocent times - at least in Hollywood musical terms, where life was beautiful all the time. In reality, we were just recovering from a second world war that killed millions.
I suddenly remembered: They're Coming to Take Me Away - a pop song from the sixties/seventies:

Johnny, I remember seeing Keefe Brasselle in a film - probably on TV, but I can't remember which one, even after looking at his filmography on IMDB. It might have been a musical. What was he doing in the photos? I can't quite read the text. They're coming to take me away ho-ho hee-hee ha-ha
To the funny farm
Where life is beautiful all the time
And I'll be happy to see those nice young men
In their clean white coats,"

Hi Bryan,
Keefe Brazelle starred in the 1951 film A Place In The Sun with Elizabeth Taylor. Montgomery Clift and Shelly Winters. I believe he played a wealthy Eastman cousin of Montgomery Clift's character, George Eastman.
The caption below the photo of Keefe with Doris reads:
"On WB stage #22 Keefe finds a specially built ice pond. Doris Day rehearsing for By The Light of The Silvery Moon glides around it."
Keefe was getting ready to star in The Eddie Cantor Story.

Re: 2018 Doris Day pictures
Thanks, Johnny, yes it was The Eddie Cantor Story, I'm pretty sure. A bit before all our time.
My film buff knowledge tells me that Cantor made the first 'talkie', The Jazz Singer in 1930.

Re: 2018 Doris Day pictures
Bryan: It wasn't Cantor who made the first "talkie." It was Al Jolson.
Like Irene Dunne done.
Re: 2018 Doris Day pictures
Yes, of course, Howard. I got Jolson and Cantor confused momentarily.

Doris at the recording studio - that pic is a gem. I'm pretty sure it was taken during the recording of her "Show Time" album. Thanks, Pete.

Doesn't look like Doris! May have been mislabeled.
Like Irene Dunne done.
Re: 2018 Doris Day pictures
Thanks Ania for the beautiful photo of Doris. I have not seen this one before.
Peter, the photo of Doris in the recording studio is really special. I love the expression on her face.
The photo of Doris and Polly Bergen is from my favourite scene in Move Over Darling. It is hilarious.
The 1944 photos of Doris at the microphone is new to me. She looks gorgeous. She would have been 22 at this time.
Thank you again Peter.
