I agree Michael - Doris bloomed around this time and the surgery enhanced her confidence- boy she was sexy during the bra-less period! Her body was always fabulous, but wow!

Doris did indeed bloom during this time period. With her television series recently wrapped, she astonished veteran reporters in Hollywood by making so many public outings. I checked my files and the picture of her and Billy was snapped at the March 15, 1973 benefit screening of "Last Tango". Less than two weeks later, she and Terry attended the opening of Ross Hunter's "Lost Horizon". That spring Doris also accompanied Ross Hunter to the opening of "I Do, I Do" starring Rock Hudson and Carol Burnett.

In an April 5, 1973 letter to me thanking me for the Daisies I'd sent her for her birthday, she noted, "...'Last Tango' was not something I'd have normally attended but it was for a good cause and Billy wanted me to go..."

Doris admired Marlon Brando as an actor and had publicly expressed her hope of working with him someday.

Hi Peter!

Welcome Back! We really missed you. You are a very important contributor to the enjoyment of this DD Forum. Your Doris photo are shared treasures that brighten our days.

What a delight this morning when I logged onto the DD Forum this morning to see these warm and wonderful Doris photos. The Young At Heart photos are beautiful. I especially like the group photo of Doris with Dorothy Malone, Elisabeth Fraser and Robert Keith.

The on-set On Moonlight Bay photo is new to me as well. A lovely find.

Peter, I have had problems logging on to the DD Forum as well. Whenever I have to unplug and reboot the computer I lose my automatic log-on option and have to use the forgot my password and reset the "remember me" option on the user profile.

Let's hope we hear from Ania.

More delightful and rare photos from Ania and Peter to savor!

Love the candid shot of Doris with Mary Wickes, which I assume was taken when they were filming It Happened To Jane in 1958 - 59. I love the two of them together. I'm also thrilled with the glamour shot of Doris from Romance On The High Seas in that evening gown and her hair put up. She is so beautiful.

It's always a treat to see photos from Young At Heart. I love this sweet film. What a great supporting cast too: Gig Young, Robert Keith, Elisabeth Fraser, Dorothy Malone, Alan Hale, Jr. and the great Ethel Barrymore. This is one old fashioned movie from the fifties that has aged beautifully. The warmth and comfort of family feels genuine and honestly earned to me, unlike many other fifties films.

Thank you Ania and Peter for your many wonderful contribution to this forum.

Michael

Love the new pics from Young at Heart, Peter (and the earlier ones from you, Ania). Funny, today I uploaded some images to Twitter from Young at Heart, myself. We must be on the same wavelength!

Bryan, I love that you used this beautiful Young At Heart photo for a banner. I think I like it better in black and white than in colour. It has a poetic quality.

Peter has a true gift for finding Doris Day photos that are real treasures.

I did a black and white one as well, Johnny, I just wondered if the sea would look better with some blue in it. I'll leave this for a while and upload the B&W one later.

Hey Bryan, I think I need to get my eyes checked. Looking at the photo more carefully , I now see the shades of blue. Absolutely beautiful!

I adore that pic above - the close up from the time of Move over Darling- it was 1963.

Love the Move Over Daring photos. I can't think of another actress that could have been more comedicly brilliant than Doris in the carwash scene

The wistful expression on Doris' face is truly touching.

Thank you Peter

Thanks Ania for this interesting photo of Doris. It looks like it is from the 1954 Young At Heart period.
I am wondering if the background is a film set.

Love the rare photos Peter has posted here. Never saw the one directly above before.

Like Jas, I really love the portrait from Move Over, Darling. Johnny is right - she was brilliant in the car wash scene. That scene epitomizes her flair for physical comedy without sacrificing an ounce of her dignity.

Thank you, Peter.

Thank you so much Peter for these latest two photos of Doris that are new to me. They are a delightful surprise.

The photo of Doris with Chappy Weaver and Jimmie Fidler is really interesting. It is a warm and charming photo. I am sure these two young men treasured the memory of being photographed with Doris Day.

I wonder if these two men are musicians. I do recall a songwriter called Jimmie Fidler that wrote music for Count Basie.

I checked out Sigourney Weaver's bio to see if Chappy Weaver was any relation. I found an uncle named Doodles Weaver.

Hi again,

Thank you for your reply's.
Johnny I made a mistake about: Jimmie Weaver, it's his nephew John Fisher on the photo.
