Thanks Peter for these Doris Day photos that are real day brightener. I am struck by how the colour pink she is wearing in three of the last four photos gives her an extraordinary radiance.

Sh looks so timeless and classic wearing black and white in That Touch of Mink photo.

Thanks Peter for these interesting Julie photos.

Every time I see Julie I try to imagine how it would have felt to see the film in colour highlighting the beautiful Californian seacoast.

Hi Peter,

Thank you so much for these 1955 London photos of Doris Day that are new to me.

In David Kaufman’s book it states that Doris and Marty left on April 6th, 1955 to sail on the Queen Elizabeth for London looking forward to spending six days there before going to Paris.

The photos made me wonder if Doris recorded Que Sera Sera in London while she was working on The Man Eho Knew Too Much.

According to Wikipedia Jean Metcalfe was a popular BBC Radio personality. The Daily Mail made her broadcasting personality of the year in 1955.

Wishing you much success Peter in your Doris Day Radio Program Research.

Hi Johnny,

Thank you so much for your nice reply. Just mailed BBC archive to find out more about Doris Day's radio show. It is possible that the BBC Doris Day radio show already started in 1954. I found it mentioned on one of the fanclub magazines from the 70's Doris Day Society. So I hope it leads anywhere. I hope we can get acces to these programs, so we can add them to the Doris Day radio legacy. It's always a thrill to find something new. I already mentioned the listening of the songs on the programs by the great Annie Mann (Friends Of Doris Day magazine) I think she did a wonderful job, hope to find some rare duets too. There must be more in the vaults. Hope to find more information on Gonzales Gamboa, he was an expert on Doris Day music in the 1970's.

Always great to hear from anyone of you, hope you are ALL doing well in this rare Corvid pandemic.

Greetings and best to you all,

P

Peter and Ania,

Thank you both for posting these rare and precious photos. I may not always comment on them, but I can assure you I look at all of them with sincere appreciation.

In case some of you may not have seen Bryan’s recent message, he has been ill and unable to be on the forum. We’re hoping it’s nothing serious and look forward to his return.

Best to all,
Michael

Thank you Ania for the great Doris photos. They are a pleasure to see.

Thank you Michael for the update on our captain Bryan. I had been wondering if he was on vacation. I am sorry to hear he is ill. These are unsettling times to be sick. I wish him a return to good health really soon. If you get any further updates I am sure we all would like to know.

Peter,

Thank you for continuing your valuable research! You'll be surprised to realize that the Doris Day music expert Gonzales Gamboa from the 1970's still is an expert, and furthermore a precious contributor to this very forum: Gonzalo Gamboa III is known here as "texas gonzalo". :D

The 1952 photo is new to me. I am struck by the fourteen year time difference in the photos and how beautiful Doris remains.

Thanks Peter.

Hi Johnny,

Thank you for your nice reply. In my vision Doris was always a beauty, and I like most of her looks in her life. Just not so keen on her hairstyle around 1951.

The 1959 Laurel Awards photo is new to me and the top name-power screen star are new to me.

When it comes to Doris’ hairstyles , my least favourite one are where her hair is really short e.g. Julie. Perhaps my favourite style is in Please Don’t Eat The Daisies. It looks so sophisticated.

Thank you Peter.
