I took it off - I think I can do a better one - or perhaps just use the film scene. It's on my list of things to do, Debbie!

What I liked about this musical, is that Doris is fighting for the people. A musical with a cause!
I didn't know The Pajama Game was on Broadway first, and won a Tony! Don't know why I haven't heard of it until it was a movie.

Yes I love that too about this film and Doris is perfect to represent the under dog [and any dog for that matter] !

I am heavily involved in union activities and it is hard going sometimes; we sure could do with a Babe Williams!

Another point on the Broadway show - it starred John Raitt [from the film] and Janis Paige who starred with Doris in her first film 'Romance on the High Seas' and again in 'Please don't eat the Daisies'.

Apparently it was either Frank Sinatra [as Sid] with Janis, or Doris as Babe [and several names were mooted including Sinatra [Jack Warner wouldn't go to the expense of both] - Howard Keel, Dean Martin and Gordon McCrae. Personally, I am glad they stayed with John Raitt - I think he made a very dashing co-star for Miss Day.

Finally, Doris' first scene [as Babe] must be one of her sexiest - those big eyes, the glowing skin, the figure hugging clothes, the underplayed perfection!

Could ya maybe post that clip on YouTube? Or send to me and I will? I'd love to see/hear it.
:)
Do you still need to see it? I have a copy of the DVD with the clip on it if you do. :D

The problem with uploading to YouTube is that it is a Warner's film so they would probably remove it - plus you need to know about reducing / converting the file. PillowTalk, would you be able to upload it to http://www.box.net" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;? This is where we put stuff like DD's phone calls, etc - I can give you username and password.

I think I should put it on box.net, because you're right, Warner will remove it soon enough.
But, I'm a risk taker, so I put it on youtube for now, and hopefully it will escape the radar for a few days.

Enjoy!!! :D

This is terrific, thank you so much! :)

Just imagine how much more of these bits and pieces could be lying around in the archives? *sigh*

I love love love this movie. I wish they had like bloopers or a gag reel we could look at. But knowing Doris, there were probably no mistakes made on her part. That would still be really cool though.

That was brilliant - thanks Nicki! 8)

They should have left it in! Doris is such a pro - I hope she has seen it, critical as she is of her work, I'm sure she'd think 'job well done!'

Thanks again - hopefully Warner's won't notice - a lot of stuff goes under the radar - you can see "Secret Love" on YouTube, which I think would be the first one to spot - and many others, as you know.

Thanks again.

I actually would have preferred this scene in the movie over the "Hey there" in her bedroom...

I like "Hey There", as well though. Seems strange they cut it, it wasn't very long and some on the numbers, such as "Once a Year Day" (which I love) and "Hernando's Hideaway" are really long.

Hey there,

Haha, I always liked "Hey there" sung by Doris. It's one of the few songs she ever sang live on a film set. Maybe that's why it's so special to me. I like the words too.

While I like the way Doris plays that scene, I never liked "The Man Who Invented Love." I think it's a pretty mediocre song. I think they made the right choice.

Interesting to know Peter. But I just thought, didn't she do "I Can Do Without You" from Calamity Jane live?

Yes, you are correct Bryan. That's another one she did live. And the studio fought her very hard on both of those live perfromances. She said by the time she came back to Warners to do the one in The Pajama Game she thought they would have given her a bit more credit that she knew what she was doing, but no, they fought her just as hard on that one as well.

I loved Hey There. I sang that to audition for our school's showchoir and I made it. This song remains one of my favorites for this reason. I want to be in this play someday so badly.

I was in this play in 1976 Megan. It was fun. I bet you would make a fantastic Babe Williams .
