There was a wax figure of Doris and Rock at the 1964 World's Fair in New York - somewhere I have a photo of it....it was pretty good. No idea where it would be now, but I saw it and took a photo - it was life size and she was wearing a long gold gown.

Wow...Mary Ann...I can't believe that. How did I miss it? And I went three or four times, too.

Mary Anne~
You gave the photo to me 30 or 40 years ago and I have it. I'm looking at it right now. Unfortunately, Doris' head is tilted down. I don't care for the likeness at all. There is a man with her who is supposed to be Rock Hudson, or so the sign says. If I can scan it, I'll upload it to the forum.

Wow, thanks for posting that! It's pretty cool that they tried--but the likenesses aren't very good. :)
It does appear to be the same gown, though, doesn't it?

Anyhow, thanks again--it was very nice of you to post the photo!! :)

Have a lovely "Day"!! :)

I really love this film, it's not the typical Doris Day film you would go see. It's dark, chilling, and a bit creepy at times. Which is precisely why I love it. It's so out of the norm of what Doris did, as was Julie and even Young Man With A Horn or Love Me Or Leave Me. All were so great because they were so different.

The dress the waxwork is wearing looks like a replica of the gown from Thrill of It All.

Great to see this, thanks Lauren for posting.

The sign says Rock Hudson, but the wax figure looks alot more like Jimmy Garner. His hair line and all. :?

If you search the internet you should be able to find it - I bought a 'Region-free' version online a year or so ago.

I just did a search and found one for $12.99 here and it says Format: DVD Region ALL:

Esta pelicula estuvo en los cines aqui en España en 1960 con mucho exito, aparte de sus muchos pases por TVE, sa lanzo en DVD hace algunos años, con muy buena calidad, pelicula de suspense en la que Doris Day dijo que nunca mas volveria hacer una pelicula de terror, ya que lo paso bastante mal, aqui os pongo los posters en español y el del DVD, aqui se llamo Un grito en la Niebla.

Midnight lace holds up really well as a thriller fifty years later. I think it would have been even better if the Rex Harrison part had been played by an actor more likable like Jimmy Stewart or Cary Grant. It would have been much more shocking. Myrna Loy was excellent and perfectly cast. Doris did a great job.

When do you think Turner Classics will show Midnight Lace? I can find every other film Doris made except this fine one.

Doris never looked more sophisticated and beautiful. It is such an exciting film with great atmosphere and endless suspense. Let's start a campaign to get this wonderful film out on dvd. Doris and her fans deserve this treat. It would be even better if the dvd included a special features commentary by Doris and any others associated with the film. What do you think?
