Babe: Remember what Doris said in her last tv interview?
"I only wanted to become a good wife, a good mother, raise lots of kids and animals, and live happily ever after. And I became a movie star. If I an do it, anybody can!" So, GO FOR IT!!!

Re: Love Me or Leave Me
Oh believe me I will! If I have anything to say about it I'll be a HUGE star. But I want to be different from other stars. I want to be married only once, I want to continue in my relationship with God. And I plan to wear underwear..lolmikeydv wrote:Babe: Remember what Doris said in her last tv interview?

Re: Love Me or Leave Me
When I was younger I didn't particularly care for this movie. Fortunately as I matured so did my movie tastes. This is now one of my favorites. What surfaced was a previously unknown depth which certainly should have been explored more often. And, she was smokin' in that blue dress.
Finally, everytime I see the number "Shakin' the Blues Away" and the last number from "Lullaby of Broadway" I immediately remember that the doctor's said this girl would always have a difficult time walking and would never dance again. Ha! I guess she showed them.

Re: Love Me or Leave Me
I found this movie to be one of doris days most meatiest roles, and did she do a great job on it. Cagney,(like sinatra in young at heart ) seemed very unlikely spouse for doris, but the movie worked very well. Too bad they cut out some of the parts that doris thought should have been left in. I wish doris would have tried her hand at directing.

Re: Love Me or Leave Me
Wow, another great one!
The life of Ruth Etting is a life I'm sure Doris Day can relate too, so she did such a great job with the difficult scenes. Her singing was really great, and the songs wonderful!
The clothes were beautiful. My favorite was the pinkish dress with silver glitter on the top, near the beginning of the movie. That color on her looks great with her coloring. (not really pink, not sure what it is!)
I'll buy both the movie and the soundtrack to this one!

I rewatched this great film again the other day and it is a fantastic showpiece for Doris's singing and acting. Truely timeless and an ageless film. As is Doris herself! She should have gotten an Oscar for this film!

Re: Love Me or Leave Me
Hi all,
A few years ago we had a thread about Ruth Etting, I couldn't find it now. But we had little information on Ruth Etting. Today I found on Youtube a lot of her songs. I give you the link to Ruths version of Ten Cents a Dance:

If you wish to find more, just type Ruth Etting and you'll find a lot of her songs.

Love Me was truly one of her best dramatic efforts . Very good movie. BILL
Re: Love Me or Leave Me
The movie and the two stars all deserved an Oscar; no film or stars were even close that year although the bean heads in Hollywood managed to choose them and totally ignore Doris' MAGNIFICENT performance...
Re: Love Me or Leave Me
Find on Google a photo's-image of this movie, they show Doris Day and James Cagney at rehearsel.
Miss Day and James Cagney, they both look marvellous.

The next one is really big.

It's my very favorite movie that she made! She deserved an Academy Award for that film! I hope she gets one for Lifetime Achievement soon.
