Re: I'll See You in My Dreams
This is one of my favorites. Mainly because of the great songs in the movies and Doris singing them. Doris and Danny Thomas just clicked in this movie. He was the perfect chacter for this role. The very ending was a tear jerker for me when he starts to sings: "I Wish I Had A Girl" and he gets so choked up and Doris starts singing to get him through it. I just thought that was beautiful. I love that song. Another scene is where she goes down to sing his new song" The One I Love Belongs To Somebody Else". That was a fabulous, especially when Danny Thomas walks in near the end to hear her singing his song. What a great movie.

Kay, so in the movie, there's a scene that shows Grace singing a bunch of songs. Is one of them called You're No Body's Sweetheart Now??? Just wondering, I loved that song!

Re: I'll See You in My Dreams
Watched this movie yesterday for the first time (with Marion on the phone again
) - I totally loved it !!! I think its my favorite of the Warner Brothers movie I've seen so far - her performance was really good and heartbreaking .. and I liked Danny Thomas - he was really cute and they were cute together. Plus I loved almost every song - MAKING WHOOPEE in the train is totally adorable
I voted it excellent!!!!

Re: I'll See You in My Dreams
Basically I can only agree with you 110% - Great movie!
They were a cute couple and silly sentimental me naturally loved the ending with him telling her he loves her for the very first time...
I also loved the scene after the birth of their second child where he sings "It had to be you" for her, especially in regard of her comments in "Her own story"
And Making Whoopee... SOOO cute!
One of my favourite movies of hers.

Re: I'll See You in My Dreams
It is a great movie. I could watch it over and over.
I love the last part when they are honoring him and he starts to sing his very first song published " I Wish I Had A Girl" and he gets so choked up that Doris starts singing with him to get him through it. That was so sweet.

LOVE THIS MOVIE even though its in black and white I could watch it over and over just as carol said.Doris is such an artist that you NEVER feel like your watching a movie, but that its real and right in front of you,if you know what I mean. The lady is the very best there ever was at her profession.

Re: I'll See You in My Dreams
I was just wondering , if they were to colorize this film, do you think you would like it better ? I personally love this film, and I do think it might have a more real feel to it if it were colorized .We dont see in black and white, we see in color so to me I think it would benefit from colorization .

me too!!! I think its perfect the way it is - I love b/w movies .... some movies are meant to be b/w - I'm not necessarily saying that ISYIMD is one of them - but I still like it in b/w - gives it a special atmosphere I think

Re: I'll See You in My Dreams
Hehe, it sure was.
But we were mostly laughing about ourselves for being so crazy to even enjoy that.
But better back to topic before Bryan comes with a broom to sweep all that off topic stuff out... *gg*
I really really love this movie - as you can see from my new avatar! (Thanks, Anke!
)
This "sad-eyed beagle hound of a husband of yours" - He is sooo sweet...
And they make such a lovely couple. I think there is a lovely chemistry between them. It's a shame they didn't make more pictures together, don't you think?

Re: I'll See You in My Dreams
I just got finished watching this movie, and it was so charming! How nice a movie was made of Kahn's career.
It would have been a sin to make this movie in color, because it took place in the 1920's and it looked old fashioned to shoot in black and white.
I feel "charm" is the word for these songs too. Doris sang them so beautifully, and was hard to hear that other woman sing! It would have been nice for me to see this movie before "Love Me Or Leave Me" because Kahn wrote that song! I sure like it better when Doris sang it!
I sure enjoyed this movie!
