Julie
Re: Julie
Well, finally I saw this movie this afernoon, and what a movie, the acting of Miss Day was just perfect, really perfect, even the scenery and other actors. Here role is so different, she played a serious role, not like the Doris Day movies I used to know. Really I have enjoy the movie from the being till the end.I do love this movie very much.

Re: Julie
I love this movie, it was the first Doris film I ever saw (a channel 4 Doris double bill one summer) and I'm afraid I haven't seen it since. The story really draws the viewer in and Doris' performance is very convincing, similar to her later performance in Midnight Lace. I think I actually prefer this to Midnight Lace. Although I did enjoy ML, I thought Julie seemed much less contrived? It is a long time since I have seen this one though!
Re: Julie
Julie is one of my all time favorites.Doris is fantastic, what a great job she did.

Re: Julie
I was just wondering, carol ,if when you went to lunch with doris that day if you two ever mentioned julie.? I would have loved to have asked her just where the location shots had been done and all, then I would have went to those sites ,if they still exsist, that is lol. I remember doris saying that she was instantly in love with carmel, when she was shooting julie there.

Re: Julie
Hi Suzie,
No we didn't bring it up. I was to much in AHH to think about that. We talked about a couple of her episodes from her TV show and laughed a lot. I think she was more interested in what I did and about my scrapbooking which was fine with me. I think she knew I knew so much about her she wanted to know about me and my daughter. We talked about some of her music, one in particular..."Come To Baby, Do because I had a friend that had the sheet music from when her dad played it on the piano. She autographed it for her .

Re: Julie
One of my faves. I guess I like it so much because I felt that the movie was sort of a social commentary about spousal abuse and as someone said earlier in this thread, it is still a huge problem, not much has changed. Of course, Doris was remarkable in this film.

Re: Doris Day in Julie
I wish she'd made a film called "Suzie",
But I do like "Julie" - I gather there is a 'colourised' version - that would be interesting to see.

Re: Doris Day in Julie
I noticed Ebay (USA) was selling Julie.
I've never seen Julie, and the VHS tape is pretty expensive. I hope it will come out on DVD soon. I don't like to spend too much on a VHS tape if I don't have too. DVD's are much better.

Re: Doris Day in Julie
I didn't know about the Midnight Lace on DVD!
I have a good VHS of it from Amazon for $15. Not too bad, but for that I could have bought the DVD.
Midnight Lace is a very good movie and worth seeing. Cool to see Doris in something scary!
