My favorite cousin bought me TDDS season 1 and I just love it. Doris is so very pretty isnt she ? What a treasure we have in doris. On days when we may be a little down, we can put her show on and be trasported to a much nicer place.

You are so right Susie, I tried explaining that to my friends tonight at a party. I love her TV show because it makes me laugh without feeling guilty. I am not laughing at another human beings misery when I watch Doris. It is just a good feeling.

Is Doris your idol?

Suzie and Laurie,

I feel exactly the same way. Anytime I have a bad day or just not feeling myself that's what I do is put in a dvd of Doris and start watching her and before you know it I'm feeling better. She just brightens everyday and makes me happy and laugh so much.

I haven't watched this special in months and I've missed it! I remember the first time I watched it -- don't know why but I didn't have high expectations and I was absolutely, positively surprised! It also introduced me to J.Denver and I'm glad for that. Plus, Doris's dancing and figure! Good lord! Wish I look half as good in her (then) age.

Peter Flapper wrote:Hi there,

For years I've enjoyed the songs from this show on cd. I bought it once from The Doris Day Society. And I still enjoy them a lot. Day by Day is my favorite, The Sunshine medley, Follow Me and The way we were are other favorits.

But when I saw the complete show, I was a little dissapointed. Not about the songs, but I think that Doris had too much gasts on her show. I love John Denver, he could've been in the complete show for me. More Doris and John singing and also a few comedy routines from them. Tim Conway en Rich Little could've been in an other NEW special with Doris. And The Lockers didn't do anything special for me in this show. Probably good dancers but Doris could do without them.

I wish she had sung more songs the way she did: Sentimental Journey, It's Magic (on the first special) and Day by Day en The Way We Were on this one. More concert type. (don't know how to explain it better)

So I did enjoy this show, but it was not up to Doris standerds. Not even close.

Flyers up in my over 55 16 story building in Florida. Ray Lyons presents Doris Day Today may 5, 2015. Will show both TV specials and I know the residents will love them. We have a classic movie night every Tuesday. Nancy Sinartra said when he father was very sick she would play one of his movies and he would feel so good. Doris's movies does that for all of us!!

This is my small tribute to Doris and I wish you all could be here. The friends from the 1987 convention and from this site. Old and new fans alike. Doris always pops up to brighten our lives. In our crazy world we need her. In 1976 she left us awhile till 1983 and again in 1985 till 1994 when she did the british talk shows. A.E Hotchner had written we would not see Doris again. I am so glad he was wrong. When in 2011 Doris delighted us again with the CD My Heart. In 2014 and 2015 her wonderful birthday appearances. Doris said she finds joy and happiness from her animals which she can find in no other source. Well I feel the same about her. I can't find joy and strength without her. No other source for me. Thats why I am blessed with her influence and inspired. So Doris Day Today is every day:)

Sounds great Ray - one of my best birthdays was 2 or 3 years ago when a group of friends rented a small specialist cinema and they showed Pillow Talk as we ate ice cream - nothing like sharing a DD experience with others - it enhances it to a new level .

What a fantastic idea Jas! You are one very fortunate person to have such thoughtful and kind friends. I think I would go into orbit if my friends surprised me with a Doris Day film in a movie theater. Any of her films would make me very happy. If I were to choose only one it would be Midnight Lace.

Since my birthday is in October I will make sure to share your story with my friends. I try to always be an optimist like Doris. Who knows? I have great friends.

I'm having a few friends over next Friday to view "Love Me or Leave Me." It's true, sharing Doris with others just heightens the experience.
