Happy Birthday Doris!

I thought I'd set up a topic to wish Doris a very Happy Birthday as it's fast approaching.

We'd all like her to know how much she means to us, I'm sure, and we wish there were more people in the world like her, don't we? Perhaps, if I'm really disciplined, I could print out what people say in a month's time and send it to her for her birthday? I think Diane came to the rescue the last time I made a rash promise like this but this time you should hold me to it.

It would also be nice if people wanted to create some 'digital' birthday cards, slide shows, poems, writings, etc. I'm going to start it off with this fun (I hope) tribute - live recording of Roly Poly from Pillow Talk - love the way Doris breaks up singing with Rock:

I do love especially the last one, then and now, she started with the music, and today she is a welfare advocate. She looks beautiful then, and even now she is still a beautiful, wonderful person.

I hear some good news of Doris from someone who spoke to her recently and tells me, " She sounded great... They were having some rain in Carmel and she loves the smell of everything after the rain - the cleanness and freshness. She's swamped with mail and the "kiddies" are all doing great."

Isn't that good news? As I said to the person who told me, "We all worry about Doris a little so it's great to know she is well and happy."

Great news Bryan, that she is doing well, I hope she enjoy living and enjoying her babies.
I also called my dogies "my babies", always did. It's funny that she also did call them like that.

I was just reviewing the life of Al Jolson. He, like Doris, moved to San Fran, and left LA. Both went bankrupt, and in Al's case, they said they took his money away because he refused to sing, and then gave it back to him when he continued. He never died, just sang his last note.
