Just thought I would let everyone know I talked with Doris about an hour ago. She sounded great as always considering what the tabloids say. My grandson Riley is spending the night with me and said he wanted to watch Calamity Jane again plus Jumbo. He listens to her music and watches her TV series (the ones with the kids).
He has always wanted to talk with her...tonight his wish came true...she said she certainly would and was so sweet as was he. It almost made me tear up. He said he wanted to call his mom and tell her he was so happy. Be -fore we hung up I wanted to tell her Happy Birthday ahead of time. What a great evening it was. So folks Doris is doing very well.

Thanks Puck..
I do feel like a lucky girl but I do like to share with all my DD fans when I do speak to her because she always tells me how much she loves her fans.
I've been writing to Doris since 1982 but have been a fan since 1959.
I never in a million years thought I would talk to her much less meet her... and twice.
For some reason we just have a pretty good rapport with each other. I'm glad because I can keep all my friends up to date on the forum how she's doing and she is doing really well.
Happy New Year!

Thanks to all of you. We all love Doris and I'm glad I can give you the good news when I talk to her.

My grandson in only 7 but he's been listening to her music in my car since he was about 18 months old.
He just sings along now and knows a good many of her songs...even the older ones likes "Crocodile Tears" and "NO". I told Doris I want him to hear and know what a really good singer sounds like and what great songs we all listened to when we were growing up. She said you know that's the truth...the music today is just not what it used to be.

When Riley was in kindergarten they had show and tell and he told me when I picked him up he was taking in the CD of Doris that Mike had made him so the class could listen to it...of course none of the kids know who she is and neither did his teacher who was very young...he said put it on #8 which was "Choo Choo Train". This Nana is very proud of him. As long as he's around me he will listen to her music and we are now watching some of her movies and he likes the first two seasons of her TV show. :D

In the US 1 888 887 2034 Overseas I think you start with 001, then the number

TOLL FREE LINE TO CALL DORIS: Tell us who you are and where you are from. Then, let Doris know
how much she means to you and how much you think of her activities through the years. And, of course,
wish her a 90th Happy Birthday. (2 mins max per call) DEADLINE MARCH 31ST

We will publish all the calls on www.songsandmemories.com on the JUST DORIS pages under HAPPY 90TH BIRTHDAY, DORIS DAY. The page is open now, but we are continuing to add more things to it up until April 1st. After her birthday, all the calls will be put on a cd , and we will send it directly to Doris.

Yes, we know there is some discrepancy about Doris' "actual" age, but, seriously, does it matter? We are just happy she is with us and so much alive and up. Doris says she is celebrating her 90th birthday, and that, my fellow fans, is exactly what we will do! TAKE PART!!!

How wonderful for you Daisy June. You and your grandson must be thrilled! I know we all wish we could talk to her. So happy she is doing well. I don't have grandchildren yet, but my two dogs Daisy and Snooze are in the car with me all of the time and they settle right down as soon as Doris starts singing. They can tell a voice that loves them. Wow what a treasure.
