I have this on CD from years ago and highly recommend - DD sounds fabulous and very jazzy on many - I particularly love "I'm a big girl now"; "Don't worry bout me" and "I got a right to sing away these blues" - listen to how long DD holds the end [high] note in I'm a big girl now! Wonderful!

I have this CD, too. It contains some of the best jazz renditions DD ever recorded, including "I Got It Bad and That Ain't Good," which just knocks my socks off every time I hear it. To me, it's superior to Billie Holiday's and Ella Fitzgerald's versions. James, I agree about "I'm a Big Girl Now"'; it was recorded just as rock songs were beginning to get a stronghold on the charts, and I think it proves DD's little known ability in that genre.

Musiclover- I agree about [and had forgotten about] DD's version of "I got it bad" - and she sings it [also in my view] superior to Billie, Ella, Anita and others who have sung it - and Doris sings it in a slightly different way than is usually sung.

On this note- DD is the only artist I've ever heard who [in the song "But not for me" - from her Day by Day album] - in the verse sings the lyric "than any Broadway play could guarantee..." - rather than "Russian play..." as all others sing.

Wonder why? I like the difference in this.

Probably changing the lyric from "Russian play" to "Broadway play" was done simply because it's easier and more poetic to sing the word "Broadway" than the word "Russian" (no offense meant to Ira Gershwin).

Could be- re change of lyric - I like the Broadway reference.
