Hi Judy and Texas,

Thanks for your nice reply's. More and more songs are topping the surface. In my own collection I found another version of "Love Somebody" by Doris Day and Bob Hope that I had lost... So now we have four versions.

1947-11-21 Love Somebody - Doris Day & Buddy Clark - Columbia Recording
1948-07-26 Love Somebody - Doris Day & Buddy Clark - Carnation Contented Hour
1948-10-00 Love Somebody - Doris Day & Bob Hope - Red Cross syndication
1948-00-00 Love Somebody - Doris Day & Bob Hope - The Bob Hope Show... different start/jokes Bob

Judy...
The "Having A Wonderful Wish (Time You Were Here) song is from the Sorrowful Jones picture from Bob Hope. This song is from the 1949-05-03 Bob Hope Show. On the photo below you'll see the first scriptpage of 1949-05-31 for The Bob Hope Show.
Image
The song is sung this time By Bill Farrell

Do you own a copy of: "If You Will Marry Me"? I love to hear that one too...

Hope to find more, hope to hear from you all,

P

Peter, thanks for the correction to my notes about "Having a Wonderful . . ." Forgot to say that I believe the date of the "You Was" duet with Hope was actually 12-15-48. I don't know anything about "If You Will Marry Me" other than the title. There were a few short songs written especially for the radio show, and it might have been one of those.

I may have found the song you're discussing. On the CD that I got from the DDAF within the past one or two years, entitled "Day Time On The Radio," Doris sings a duet with John Agar called "I Will Marry You." There's very little in the liner notes but it does say that John Agar was only on Doris' radio show on 11/6/52 so that must be when they sang this song. There's only one other brief reference to the song which says that "it is
an adaptation of the traditional hymn, The Keys To Heaven."

I really like this CD. It brings back memories of listening to Doris sing on the radio when I was young. It also brings back some old songs that I haven't heard for a long time. And it's fun to hear some people who didn't normally sing do so with Doris. Broderick Crawford is one example.

I hope this helps, Renie

Peter, thanks for posting your latest find. The Doris Day Show was among the last of the series and was indeed short (15 minutes) with no guest stars. This data is now part of The DDD Discography. Thanks again and Happy Days, Texas Gonzalo

Terrific find, Peter. I never knew before that Doris sang "Route 66." Clever song. Nat Cole had a hit recording of it, and so did Bing Crosby with the Andrews Sisters, shortly before this broadcast.

Thanks for replying... Sometimes months no result in finding rare material and now:::
Got the last Jack Kirkwood Show too... So now we have: The Rudy Vallee Shows(2), The Jack Kirkwood Shows(4), The Railroad Hour(2), Kraft Music Hall(2) - with Al Jolson & Oscar Levant online. A lot of the Your Hit Parade Shows are available, there are a lot of The Bob Hope Shows available, The Doris Day Show(14), Guest Star(2) and a few other shows around.

Hope to find the two missing Buddy Clark/Melody Hour/Carnation Contented Hour shows too.

Peter, what great finds from The Jack Kirkwood Show. Never knew Doris had sung "Route 66" and "Best
Man." Those songs are now part of The DDD Discography thanks to you. In reviewing my notes on Kirkwood shows, there is blank information on the Discrography of a Kirkwood show broadcast on 19 August 1946. Perhaps I picked up that date in error, but am still curious if there is still another Kirkwood show out there we do not know about. In any event your two latest postings made mine a Happy Day. Thanks, Texas Gonzalo

Hi all,

Thanks for replying, it's a thrill find these shows! And a big pleasure to share them with you all!!! Some shows I've been chasing for years. Searching on dates, names, places, people, music or anything... and then sometimes a hit. Some shows cost money, some are free. Some shows are to trade and sometimes someone shares a show for the fun of it. But the more there are found it will make it difficult to find the last shows. But I will keep out looking:

I think for instance the Les Brown collection must be lager than we think. Doris and Les worked for a period of 10 years off and on together. Doris started in 1940, gave birth to Terry in 1942, came back 1943/44 stayed till august 1946. Worked with Les again in august 1948 till june1950 on the Bob Hope Show.
In this period I've found some programs:
One Night Stand
Victory Parade Of Spotlight Bands
Fitch Bandwagon
Magic Carpet
Jills Jukebox

If somebody has any radio show information, please share so I can dive into the internet for a new look...

Enjoy listening all!!!

(Texas... not found any information on your Jack Kirkwood Show, but will look further) Doris also worked with Jack on the Rudy Vallee Show, The Bob Hope Show and on her own Doris Day Show. There she sometimes calls him dad. I think she liked him.)
