I have been listening to the CD Nellie Mc Kay -Normal As Blueberry Pie - A Tribute To Doris Day (2009).
All the songs on this disc are songs Doris Day recorded with the exception of one.
The track listing:
The Very Thought of You
Do Do Do
Wonderful Guy
Meditation
Mean To Me
Crazy Rhythm
Sentimental Journey
If I Ever Had A Dream (written by Nellie Mc Kay)
Black Hills of Dakota
Dig It
Send Me No Flowers
Close Your Eyes
I Remember You
Nellie Mc Kay is a British-American singer -songwriter and animal advocate. it is a delightful album and she has a different interpretation that should not be compared to Doris' work.
There is an exuberance and joyfulness in her voice. I liked that Mc Kay chose some of Doris' lesser knows songs to sing. I found Nellie's version Send Me No flowers particularly satisfying. She does justice to al the songs.
This album truly honours Doris and her singing career. Normal As blueberry Pie is a true joy.
