When one considers that those 6 nominations occurred over a period of just 12 years, it's rather remarkable. It reminds me of something Rosalind Russell wrote about her own nominations -- "Always a bridesmaid, never a bride!"

I love the celebrated actress Roslaind Russel's delightful biography that uses the quote from Auntie Mame:

"Rosalind Russell, Life Is A Banquet (and Most Poor Suckers Are Starving To Death").

Let Us Remember:

At the great age of 103, actor Kirk Douglas died
yesterday. He starred in Young Man With A Horn with Doris Day and Lauren Bacall.

Interesting he said at the height of his career in the 1950's: "I'm probably the most disliked actor in Hollywood". and followed with, "And I feel pretty good about it because that's me. I'm a pretty unlikable character".

This is consistent with Doris Day describing her time working on Young Man With A Horn as a miserable experience.

Kirk Douglas starred in Spartacus, Lust For Life, The Bad and The Beautiful, A Letter To Three Wives, and Detective Story.

I thought of Danny Kaye (big fan) but I don't think he was in Singin’ In The Rain?

Singin’ In The Rain Full Cast:
https://www.imdb.com/title/tt0045152/fullcredits

Image
Danny Kaye starred in 17 movies, notably Wonder Man (1945), The Kid from Brooklyn (1946), The Secret Life of Walter Mitty (1947), The Inspector General (1949), Hans Christian Andersen (1952), White Christmas (1954), and The Court Jester (1956).
It says he did a guest spot in "It's A Great Feeling" but I don't remember it. Do you?

His films were popular, especially for his performances of patter songs and favorites such as "Inchworm" and "The Ugly Duckling," (Hans Christian Andersen (1952). He was the first ambassador-at-large of UNICEF in 1954 and received the French Legion of Honour in 1986 for his years of work with the organization.

Johnny, did you notice that one of Doris's items auctioned by Julien's was a sweet handwritten thank-you note to her from Ginger Rogers? The winning bid was just over $5100.

One of my favorite Ginger Rogers films is "Bachelor Mother."

Thanks Musiclover! No, I did not see the news about Ginger Rogers' note to Doris sold at auction. I wonder when Ginger wrote it. I am sure it was from long ago. Doris keeping this note says something about how important Ginger was to Doris.

I feel the very same way about Doris' thank you letter sent to me. My niece suggested I have it framed which I plan to do..

I loved Ginger Rogers films. I marvelled at her dancing skills and her sense of humour in her films. I loved her in Kitty Foyle and Once Upon a Honeymoon with Cary Grant.

Be well.

Johnny, the letter from Ginger Rogers to Doris was dated December 6, 1979, a week after the Masquers Club in Hollywood had honored Ginger. She thanked Doris for her telegram on that occasion and wrote that the only thing better would've been if Doris could have attended the event.
