Here are a couple of interesting items. Some of the commercials on these radio shows are for Swan Soap. This is an ad for swan soap with Doris and Bob - an offer to get a locket with their pictures.

I found another picture that ties in with these radio programs --
This is Bob - Doris - and Bill Farrell one of the other singers on the show.

Hi there,

The last couple of weeks I've been trying to update my list of Doris Live Radio Shows. The result you can find above.
Again this forum program destroyed my original lay out(although it may be better to read than the last one I've put here). So it may be hard to read.
If you like to have a better list, send me an email and I will mail you my list in a Microsoft Word setting.

I love more information on these shows, so if you have some information or photo's I'm very interested.

Some great stuff on these links, Peter, I'm just downloading lots of old treasures.

The Internet Archive is great and I often download the public domain material - if anyone hasn't visited go to http://www.archive.org/" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; and have a look around,

Hi there,

Found a few links to some live stuff:

25 - 01 - 1948 Guest Star Radio with Wim Elliot
http://www.archive.org/details/Guest_Star_Radio" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
Doris sings:
1. That's My Desire
2. The Lady From 29 Palms

A song sounding very familiar with me, but I couldn't find it back in my collection. They call it: "Dose He Love Me". I think it must be: "It's Too Soon To Know" From a Bob Hope Show
http://www.archive.org/details/DoseHeLoveMe" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

23 - 12 - 1952 The Doris Day Radio Show
- Looking for Don Wilsons Santa Suit
http://www.megaloradio.com/dorisdayradioshow.html" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
Doris sings:
1. It’s Magic
2. Here Comes Santa Claus
3. The Second Star To The Right
4. Hark The Herald Angels Sing (with Don Wilson & Jack Kirkwood)*
5. Silent Night
6. The Christmas Story
7. Silver Bells
8. The Everlasting Arms
8. Love To Be With You

I hope the links wil work.

Hi Bryan,

Thank you for the two links.
It's Magic is from:

30 – 12 – 1948 Kraft Music Hall (NBC) (Kraft Dinner, Philadelphia Cream Cheese) program #14 ®
Stars: Al Jolson Announcer: Ken Carpenter
From: Palm Springs, California
Guest: Oscar Levant, Doris Day
Music: Lou Bring And His Orchestra
Doris sings:
1. It’s Magic#
2. Melancholy Baby# (with Al Jolson)
3. My Blue Heaven# (with Al Jolson)

This show is available on a cd called: Al Jolson and Doris Day (The Radio Years) by Delta Music Orpington Kent publissed in 2004. This disc also contains:

28 – 04 – 1949 Kraft Music Hall (NBC) program #30 ®
Stars: Al Jolson Announcer: Ken Carpenter
Guest: Oscar Levant, Doris Day
Music Lou Bring And His Orchestra
Doris sings:
1. Put Your Arms Around Me# (with Al Jolson)
2. My Dream Is Yours#

The second link is a 'new' song by Wax Tailor who also made a Que sera sera song. I believe you've used it for a Youtube video you made a few years ago. I rembered that I listend to it a lot that period. I liked it.

I still keep searching where I could find new information and shows. At the moment a man in England who has collected live radio shows is looking for stuff on Doris. He maybe will have this show:

06 – 12 – 1948 The Railroad Hour (ABC) (The Association Of American Railroads)
“Girl Grazy”
Stars: Gordon MacRae Announcer: Marvin Miller
With: William Bendix, Joan Edwards, Alan Reed, Jess Kirkpatrick, Bill Doemling
Guest: Doris Day
Music: Carmen Dragon and His Orchestra, The Norman Luboff Choir

If so I will keep you all informed.

Thank you for replying.

1956 Close To Your Heart Hitchcock/Day Transcription

Unread post by texas gonzalo » 14 Apr 2010, 17:03

There was a question on the dates for the American Heart Association program featuring Alfred Hitchcock and Doris Day. This program was made available to radio stations in the form of a 16" transcription recorded by Gotham Recording Corp. under catalog number GRC-3931B. The transcription indeed features Miss Day singing Whatever Will Be Will with a piano accompaniment. The program was titled "Close To Your Heart" and was to be played anytime during February 1 through February 29, 1956. The Doris Day transcription is Program Two, and the flip side of the disc is Program One -- "Close To Your Heart" with Samuel Goldwyn Presents Danny Kaye.
This should accurately date the broadcast.
